PECOS CHIEF
PDR, Inc # 02-00001
NASDHA # F1-S
1980 ~ 2003

Pecos Chief  NASDHA #F1-S was the first horse registered with NASDHA in May 1995 when I started the Registry. In August of 2002 PDR, Inc. was started as I had started NASDHA as a COLOR Registry. Pecos Chief again carries the number 1 number. PDR #01-00001.
Chief was foaled 6/1980. He stood 17hh  and was 1825lbs. He wore a 29" color.
Chief has been shown and won many Championships. He was shown at the Denver Stock and NM State Fair for many years. Traveled the US to the Great Circus Parade 1993,94,95, 97 & 98. The Farm Progress Days in OH 1997 & 98. He was our carriage horse doing weddings for years. At 18 we retired him from the carriage and his son Pecos Chief's War Eagle has now taken over.
Chief has been our senior stallion producing many fine mares and stallions that have become famous in their own right.
PECOS PRINCESS ~ PECOS ROSEANNE ~ PECOS JEWELL
We are located in the center of NM. The Land of Enchantment. Estancia is 1 1/2 hours east of Albuquerque. 23 miles south of Moriarity, I-40 & old Route 66. The elevation of our ranch is 6200 feet, so we do have snow in the winter. The summer high is around 95, with only 11" of rain at the most per year.
The Double Nickle Ranch (which of course is our brand is 55 Bar) is 320 acres, or 1/2 section of land where we raise spotted draft horses. We got the name of "Pecos" from our ranch in Las Vegas, NM where we started raising Pinto/Paint Percheron drafts. The head waters of the Pecos River ran through the ranch. We also raise a few Donkeys, Quater Horse, Paint and Warmblood's. Also Fainting Goats, Barbados Blackbelly Hair sheep and Jack Russell Terriers. We raise alfalfa/grass hay for us and to sell.

In 1995 Lowell and I started a registry for Pinto/Spotted Draft Horses, NASDHA, North American Spotted Draft Horse Association as a COLOR registry for Pinto/Paint colored draft horses. Pecos Chief was the first Pinto draft horses ever registered as a Pinto Draft. In 2002 the Pinto Draft Registry, Inc. was started as we had started NASDHA as a COLOR registry. Check out the website. www.pinto-draft-registry.com to learn more about these beautiful draft horses of color. The #1 Draft Horse of Color.

The Stage Stop Tack and Harness Shop was started in Las Vegas, NM in 1980 where I sold new, used and repair tack.
The Stage Stop Carriage Service was started in 1987. We specialize in doing weddings with our Vis-A-Vis carriage. We also do Parades, Hayrides & Special Events. We have promoted the Spotted draft by being in The Great Circus Parade in Milwaukee, WI 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997 & 1998. The Farm Progress Days at Looganier, IN 1996. Mt. Hope, OH 1997 & 1998. Have showned at the National Western Stock Show, Denver CO for several years. CO State Fair since 1978, 1979 & 1980 where we were CO State pulling champions with our team of pinto drafts Dick & Jane. Showed in NMSF since 1980 where we started the Draft Horse Show and Pull.

We standing 3 spotted stallions and 1 registered Percheron Stallion. Pecos Chief 's Hombre. A son of Pecos Chief and 2 are Homozygous for the Tobiano gene. Pecos Prince and Pecos La Rowdy. All our stallions have been tested for EVA and our negitave. Pecos La Rowdy is standing in OK at the ranch of Charlie Cox & Vince Hall.

We also stand a Jack. At this time we are only be breeding him to mares. His stands 15.2 hh.

On 9/16/03 we put Pecos Chief to rest. He is burried on our ranch. He was 23 years old. He have had him since he was 6 months old. We sure miss him. There will be a page dedicated to him and his life.

Pecos Chief's Hombre is our only son of Chief. We hope he will carry on his father's great life.
